A one-two punch: Diabetes in rats cured by embryonic cell and adult pig islet transplants

In a step toward curing diabetes in humans, scientists at the  School of Medicine have alleviated the disease in rats using transplants from both embryonic and adult pigs. The rats adopted the pig transplants as their own and produced enough insulin to control their blood sugar ? all without the need for anti-rejection drugs. FULL STORY

Students awarded Fulbright Scholarships

Fifteen current or former WUSTL Arts & Sciences students have been awarded Fulbright Scholarships for the 2010-11 academic year. Nine are recently graduated seniors and six are graduate students. They will spend a full academic year in a host country. FULL STORY

He now cares for women who have had previous complicated pregnancies, have lost a fetus during pregnancy or are carrying twins or triplets. Obituary: Peterson, longtime professor of anatomy, 86

  • Steve Duncan, former assistant coach at Johns Hopkins University, has been named head WUSTL baseball coach. Duncan is the 12th baseball coach in program history. He replaces Ric Lessmann, who retired May 25 after serving as head coach for 17 seasons.
